Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

Ink Paws is designed for children ages 4+. We are committed to protecting children's privacy and comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar regulations worldwide.

Introduction

Lumina Studios ("we", "us", or "our") operates Ink Paws, a Chinese character learning app for children and language learners. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our app.

Information We Collect

Learning Progress (Local + Cloud)

  • Characters learned and mastery level
  • Practice session history
  • In-app rewards (fish treats collected)

Stored locally on device (Hive) and optionally synced to cloud (Firebase Firestore) when signed in.

Account Information (Optional)

  • Google or Apple account ID (for sign-in)
  • Email address (from sign-in provider)

Account creation is optional and protected by Parental Gate for children.

Advertising Data

  • Advertising identifier (IDFA/AAID)
  • Device type and OS version

All ads are child-directed (Google AdMob with COPPA tag enabled). No behavioral targeting.

Children's Privacy Protection

Parental Gate

All sensitive features (account linking, purchases, settings) require solving a simple math problem that young children cannot easily complete.

Child-Directed Ads

All advertisements are tagged for child-directed treatment, showing only age-appropriate content with no behavioral targeting.

No Personal Data Collection

We do not collect names, photos, or other personal information from children without verifiable parental consent.

Data Deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time:

  1. Open Ink Paws app
  2. Go to Profile tab
  3. Tap "Delete Account"
  4. Confirm deletion (requires Parental Gate)

All cloud data will be permanently deleted within 30 days. Local data is deleted immediately when you uninstall the app.
